Cenderawasih Bay National Park is a marine national park located in the Bird's Head Seascape region of Indonesia, in the province of West Papua. It covers an area of approximately 1.5 million hectares, which includes the marine waters and the surrounding islands. The national park is known for its incredible marine biodiversity and is home to more than 200 species of coral, 1,000 species of fish, and several species of marine mammals, including whales, dolphins, and dugongs. It is also famous for the whale sharks that visit the area regularly. Cenderawasih Bay National Park was established in 2002 to protect its unique marine ecosystem and cultural heritage.
